CR Council Candidate Interview: Zhang Feng
1. Since you are running for your first term, please introduce yourself to the community. Tell us a little about your background, prior experience, and personal vision for Elastos and Cyber Republic.
I am Zhang Feng, Partner of V&T Law Firm and Head of Digital Law Professional Committee of V&T Law Firm. I am also the Think Tank Expert of Shanghai Blockchain Technology Association, Vice President and Executive Secretary of Legal Affairs Professional Committee of Shanghai Blockchain Technology Association, and Legal Counsel for Tencent’s Blockchain Business.
Regarding Cyber Republic, from the community’s feedback, the CR Committee reached a consensus on burning some of the ELA coins and modifying the tokenomics model in the past year and supported some excellent projects. In the past year, the CR Council members were generally responsible and proactive in serving the community.
While my prior experience is discussed in greater detail in Question 3, I personally would like to learn from the spirit of serving the community, demonstrated by the CR committee. I believe that everything needs to be reasonably handled. Judgments and decisions should be made in accordance with reasonable logic while considering the overall interests of the community and the interests of relevant parties.
2. Would you say the design of Suggestions and Proposals, and the CRC in general, has been effective? What could be improved?
At present, the overall design of the Suggestion and Proposal is okay. Of course, some areas need improvement, such as whether a proposal must first be publicized in the form of Suggestion for a specified period of time, say one week or three days so that a full discussion is viable. Of course, there may also be different opinions on this point, for example, an emergency situation. However, whether the CR must handle this kind of emergency is another question.
3. What contributions to the Elastos ecosystem as a whole have you made in the past year?
In the past year, many things have happened in the world of blockchain, including the vigorous development of DeFi and NFT ecosystems. While these might not be deemed as significant contributions, I have been continuously promoting the Elastos project for its unique role in the protection of data rights and interests. I have also been actively contacting and communicating with different parties to utilize the carrier and DID in some industries.
In addition, I have been an active volunteer in the Beacon community, a project that would potentially contribute to the Elastos community, and I have been involved in some of its matters. I also contributed my ideas and suggestions to some proposals in the CR community. Moreover, I have also provided assistance to the FilDA team in dealing with regulation-related matters.
4. Which proposals that passed the prior year made the most impact to the Elastos ecosystem?
In the past year, the most impactful proposals were probably the coin burn and change in the tokenomic model.
5. Why should the community vote for you?
First, I have always been passionate about the Elastos project and am optimistic about the project’s future development.
The second is that I am very familiar with the development process of the entire project and get along with many community members in harmony.
Thirdly, I once served as a member of the CR Interim Council, participated in the formulation of the CR white paper and a lot of the basic infrastructure and reviewed proposals. I am very familiar with CR’s creation and development process and have better experience in promoting CR improvement.
6. What is your vision for the maturing Cyber Republic this upcoming year?
I hope CR can better consolidate the community’s consensus, better integrate the advantages of the Chinese and English communities, and contribute to the community’s development.
7. Are there near-term Proposals that you are particularly excited for?
Recently, I am working with a famous industry giant and other industry leaders to promote the implementation of NFT industry compliance, and I am considering whether it can be integrated with the Elastos ecosystem.
8. Who else would you endorse for being on the Council with you?
I will support people who are sincere and enthusiastic about the project and can actively use their own advantages to get involved in the CR Council, such as Mr. Han, Tyro Lee, Zhang Qing (greenzhang), etc.
9. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Traditional Internet development has revealed many insurmountable problems, and the promotion of data security, information protection, and anti-platform monopoly has gradually become a consensus. The ultimate solution to these problems is the decentralized application based on blockchain.
There is a saying in ancient China, “The way of Heaven and Earth may be completely declared in one sentence. They are without any doubleness, and so they produce things in an unfathomable manner.”
Elastos has done a lot of fundamental work, and it hopes to continue to work hard with the community, persistently. For its enduring effort, I believe that Elastos’ future ecological applications will continue to surprise us.
